Is it even possible to do LWB SVO conversion?

I’m sure we can all agree that the Range Rover Vogue is a very luxurious and alluring car, especially the long wheelbase (LWB) version . The question we have is, is it even possible to modify a vehicle like this without destroying the aesthetics? Well, please read on to find out how we’ve managed to do so.

In the world of these vehicles, customisation is fairly uncommon. This is mainly due to the fact that Land Rover do not offer an SVO version, nor do they produce any official SVO kits, leaving the market open to aftermarket producers. However anyone in the industry knows that the problem with aftermarket products is that they never fit how you expect..

Then arrived this 2020 LWB Rang Rover Vogue in a stunning British Racing Green, which is a £5,000 optional extra from Land Rovers SV Exclusive Paint Pallet. The customer had travelled all the way from Germany after seeing the work we completed on our YouTube page, with the request for a ‘black pack’ (detailed in our previous blog on the Defender 110) and an SVO bodykit conversion.

Obviously, as stated above, Land Rover do not offer a SVO bodykit for the LWB version so this is where we reached a predicament.

After talks with our very experienced, ATA qualified, panel technicians they agreed that they could modify the SWB SVO body kit to fit this elongated version, which was music to the customers ears.

As you can imagine, we were very excited to start this project. So we ordered the SWB SVO Kit, straight away, with two additional door mouldings, to make sure the conversion would work. Like we do for all our jobs, the parts we ordered were 100% genuine. This ensures a high quality material which offers longevity and perfect panel alignment.

Once the bodykit and additional extensions arrived, it was then time for our MET technicians to strip the vehicle of all parts required, in order for the work to start. It was then time to move onto the panelshop.

Firstly our ATA panel technicians began fabricating the extended rear mouldings by cutting and joining two standard rear door SVO mouldings. This is all while ensuring the pegs and clips were still in the correct location, to guarantee it was as close to genuine as possible with a seamless installation.

In the centre of the newly fabricated moulding, where the plastic weld took place, an element of filling was required. This was then smoothed out to ensure that, once paint was applied, it would be impossible to tell that any work had been done.

This really is the effort we go to, to provide the best end product and offer the unique services we do.

Once the modifications were made, it when then onto the paint department along with rest of the body kit and the black back parts. Here our experienced painters applied the correct colours to the correct parts using the Spies Hecker 480 line. These are one of the leading brands in our industry and because of this we offer a five year warranty on all paintwork completed.

Alongside the SVO bodykit installation, as mentioned above, we completed a full black pack. We firstly painted all the silver trims on the vehicle in a high gloss black which, as expected, has impacted the look of the vehicle massively.

The customer did want to keep the original wheels, but he did however want them painting a high gloss black with a diamond cut face to really maintain that classy look. In our opinion, If the full wheels are painted black it can give the effect of a smaller size rim. And let’s face it, no one wants that.

Please take a look at the finished vehicle [pictures below] and let us know what you think. This was one of our favourite projects here at The Bodycentre.

If you are interested in some behind the scenes footage showcasing the whole process, start to finish, then please keep up to with our social media and our YouTube page as we will be dropping a video very soon.
