“TBC Skins - The Future of Paint Protection”
This product is applied like paint, maintained like paint, peelable like vinyl wrap, all with the protection properties of PPF (Paint protection film) but none of the downfalls.
This revolutionary product really is a game changer for the paint protection & customisation industry, not only because it eliminates a lot of the drawbacks you get from other paint protection products, but also because of its versatility.
There are three ways you can use this product; one would be as a clear protection (similar to PPF), the second would be as a paintwork revamp protection (adding a layer of paint using the existing car colour), or finally as a non permanent full colour change, which we completed on the Audi Q8 in the video to the left. We changed the colour from the Classic Mythos black to the iconic Nardo Grey. You may be thinking, isn’t this an Audi colour option anyway? Well in fact this wasn’t an option for the Q8 but the customer was adamant he wanted it and also wanted to protect the paintwork, so TBC Skins was a no brainer. Because this is classed as a non permanent colour change there was no need to change the log book.
The product we use is a Paint Protection Spray (PPS) from a company called Clarity Coat. They have stated that “Clarity Coat Autoflex is an invisible, durable and safe method of protecting your vehicle, and acts as a second skin applied by a spray paint gun. The innovative formula offers protection to any part of a vehicle, providing 100% coverage to protect every nook and cranny”
This product acts exactly the same as a PPF wrap. It offers the same protection for your vehicle, from stone chips, to deep scratches, to heavy swirl marks, and even has self healing properties on light scratches. The best part about this product is that it is peelable should you want to remove it. As stated above, it is applied through our spray guns as if it was paint and you can have it in either a gloss or satin finish. You will still receive the same amazing protection benefits of PPF without enduring the drawbacks that come with it such as; noticeable cuts or tears, stress marks, glue residues and UV yellowing and fading.
The best thing about this product is that you can keep it clear to show the original paintwork, or you can change the colour. This is done by adding a layer of paint using literally any colour of your choice during the application, effectively making it a combination of PPF and vinyl wrap, but with actual paintwork. It also has the same clear coat properties as normal paintwork, therefore you are able to polish as normal (providing you chose the gloss option), this is something you can’t do with PPF wrap. With TBC Skins you get over 200 additional microns of protection whereas normal paint is only around 90 to 110 microns.
